These spindles are made of indigenous hardwood that is sustainably reclaimed from the forest floor or black wattle which is found in excess. We sell these spindles in the hopes of raising awareness and spreading information about the importance of South Africa's largest continuous indigenous forest."

Top/Bottom Whorl Spindles



With a notch on both ends these spindles can be used as a top whorl or a bottom whorl with a simple half hitch. This style of spindle can also be used as either a traditional suspended drop spindle or as a supported spindle using a bowl in your lap. The possibilities are endless!

We recommend to stand on a carpet or rug when spindling to avoid your spindle getting damaged when it drops! Expect a little bit of undyed merino roving in your parcel to get you started and have a look at our beautiful Yama handdyed braids!
